Politics Overview

File for office, campaign to win votes, then legislate once sworn in.

What you can do

  • Run for office: Governor or Senator (per state) or President of the United States.
  • Campaign: rallies (20 Energy), fundraisers (50), ads (5 + budget), polls, and surrogates.
  • Legislate: sponsor bills, debate, vote, and respond to governor actions.

Election flow

  1. File for a seat (see /politics/elections/filing).
  2. Primary phase (if multiple candidates) → top candidate advances.
  3. General election decides the seat.
  4. Winner starts the next term on the scheduled date.

Campaign toolkit

  • Rally: 20 Energy; target a voter group and issue for approval bumps.
  • Fundraiser: 50 Energy; raises cash based on county, market, and skills.
  • Ad: 5 Energy + budget (100k/500k/1M); shifts opinion in a media market.
  • Poll: sample opinion to guide targeting (cost varies by route).

Legislating

  • Bill statuses: hopper → scheduled → debate → voting → passed/failed → governor review → (veto override) → enacted.
  • Seat-weighted votes decide chamber outcomes; governor can sign or veto.
  • Pocket pass: if the governor does nothing by the deadline, a passed bill enacts automatically.
