Workforce and Affordable Housing Supply Act

This bill would expand competitive federal grants through the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the construction and rehabilitation of workforce and affordable rental housing in high-cost communities, with priority for projects that use state or local funds, streamline permitting, and remain affordable for at least 30 years. It would also provide preservation grants to nonprofit and public housing organizations that acquire and maintain existing rental properties, including in geographically isolated states and territories such as Hawaii, while requiring transparent reporting on project costs, affordability, and tenant protections.
