Speech Text

My fellow Texans, Energy shouldn't be another issue where Washington tells us we have to choose between two extremes. We don't have to choose between producing the energy we need today and building the energy system we'll need tomorrow. Texas has never succeeded by limiting our options, and we shouldn't start now. Oil and natural gas remain essential to our economy, our national security, and millions of American families. Texas producers should be able to responsibly develop those resources without fighting through years of unnecessary federal delays. But Texas is also a leader in wind power. We're building solar generation, exploring new nuclear technology, and developing the storage and transmission infrastructure necessary for a stronger electric grid. Those aren't contradictions. They're strengths. My approach is simple: **produce more, innovate more, and make our grid more reliable.** That means permitting reform that allows responsible energy projects to actually get built. It means strengthening transmission and protecting critical infrastructure. It means supporting American nuclear power alongside Texas oil and gas. And it means encouraging new technologies without Washington picking winners and losers. Most Texans aren't interested in an ideological argument about which energy source deserves to win. They want to know that when they flip the switch, the lights come on—and that they can afford the bill at the end of the month. We can protect our land and water without shutting down production. We can develop cleaner technologies without abandoning the workers and communities that built America's energy economy. That's not left or right. That's responsible government. Texas should remain America's energy powerhouse—not because we depend on one source of energy, but because we're capable of producing them all. That's the energy future I'll continue working for in the United States Senate.
