He started his career as a young, ambitious civil rights lawyer in the 1960s, working tirelessly to protect the rights of underrepresented groups, from racial minorities to the LGBTQ+ community. Throughout his career, Larry has led landmark cases and participated in numerous protests, tirelessly advocating for racial equality, voting rights, and police reform. His unyielding commitment to justice has earned him the respect of his peers and the admiration of younger generations who view him as a bridge between past civil rights struggles and today’s ongoing fight for equality. Although he’s faced numerous challenges, including personal loss—his wife passed away many years ago—Larry remains resilient, driven by a deep-seated belief that his work is far from finished. Now, as California's Democratic Senator, Larry brings a wealth of experience, empathy, and wisdom to the Senate floor. He remains a powerful orator and a staunch advocate for his constituents, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds.
