Biography
Colton Rigsbee’s rise through the Texas high school football ranks has been nothing short of meteoric. A graduate of Texas Tech University, Rigsbee began his coaching career as a position coach in the Dallas–Fort Worth area before quickly climbing the ladder. By his early 30s, he had taken over a struggling program in Tarrant County and transformed it into a statewide powerhouse, winning multiple UIL state championships and becoming one of the most recognizable figures in Texas high school football.
Known for his high-octane offenses and emotionally charged leadership style, Rigsbee built a reputation as both a brilliant motivator and a relentless competitor. His teams didn’t just win—they dominated, often overwhelming opponents with tempo and physicality. His sideline energy and viral locker room speeches turned him into a minor celebrity within football circles, drawing attention from college programs and now, increasingly, professional leagues like the DFL.
Despite his success, questions linger about his readiness for the next level. Rigsbee has never coached in college or the pros, and critics wonder whether his personality-driven approach will translate to managing veteran athletes and complex front offices. Still, his supporters argue that his leadership, adaptability, and proven ability to build winning cultures make him one of the most intriguing—and risky—head coaching candidates available.
At 38, Rigsbee stands at a crossroads: remain a Texas legend, or take the leap and prove he can lead at the highest level of the sport.
