Workforce and Starter Housing Supply Act

This bill would direct the Department of Housing and Urban Development, in coordination with the Department of Transportation, to establish a competitive grant program for states and local governments that adopt practical plans to expand workforce and starter housing near public transit, schools, and major employment centers. Grants could support infrastructure, planning, and construction assistance, with priority for projects that reduce permitting delays, preserve affordability, use vacant or underused property, and serve teachers, health-care workers, first responders, young families, and other moderate-income households. The program would require local matching funds, public reporting, and fair-housing compliance.
