American Jobs and Workforce Integrity Act

To strengthen immigration enforcement in the labor market, this bill shall require all employers engaged in interstate commerce to use the federal E-Verify system for new hires within a phased implementation period, with technical assistance and limited hardship extensions for small businesses; increase civil and criminal penalties for employers who knowingly hire, recruit, or continue to employ unauthorized workers, especially in cases involving wage theft, unsafe working conditions, or repeat violations; authorize additional funding for worksite enforcement, audit personnel, and anti-fraud measures; and provide safe-harbor protections for employers that make good-faith compliance efforts, with the stated purpose of protecting wages, discouraging exploitation of unauthorized labor, and supporting legal workers and domestic manufacturers.
