Biography

Grant Ellison, the current U.S. Senator from Idaho, has built his career on the principles of balance, stewardship, and service. A third-generation timber executive from Clearwater County, Ellison grew up with a deep respect for both the land and the communities that depend on it. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho, he led Ellison Timberworks to national recognition for its innovative sustainable forestry practices—proving that economic growth and environmental responsibility can coexist. As Senator, Ellison has continued to champion policies that protect Idaho’s natural resources while empowering local industries to thrive. His leadership has focused on promoting responsible land management, supporting rural economies, and reducing federal overreach in local decision-making. Known for his pragmatic and strategic approach, he has earned bipartisan respect for his ability to bring together business leaders, conservationists, and policymakers to find common ground. Ellison remains deeply connected to his Idaho roots. He frequently returns home to meet with farmers, small business owners, and conservation groups, ensuring their voices are heard in Washington. Outside of his public duties, he volunteers with youth conservation programs and advocates for outdoor education initiatives. Married to his high school sweetheart, Emily, and father to two children, Ellison continues to embody Idaho’s enduring values of hard work, integrity, and respect for the land.
