Affordable Housing Supply and Tenant Protection Act

A bill to reduce housing costs by expanding the supply of affordable homes and strengthening protections for renters and homebuyers: The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall establish a competitive grant program for states, local governments, and nonprofit housing providers to support the construction, rehabilitation, and conversion of housing for low- and middle-income households, with priority for projects near jobs and transit and for communities facing severe shortages; the bill shall also authorize tax incentives to encourage affordable homebuilding and preservation, require large corporate landlords receiving federal housing benefits or financing to disclose ownership, fees, lease terms, and eviction data in a clear and standardized form, prohibit deceptive rental advertising and hidden mandatory fees in interstate residential leasing, and direct the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to enforce these consumer protections and report to Congress on housing market impacts.
