DFL Announces $30 Million Media Rights Agreement for Season 7
DFL Commissioner Kyle Fitzgerald today announced a new $30 million league-wide media rights agreement for Season 7, providing each of the league’s 12 franchises with $2.5 million in television revenue.
The agreement represents another significant step forward for the DFL following last season’s $21.6 million deal, which distributed $1.8 million to each franchise.
“Season 6 proved that the DFL’s growth was about more than putting teams in new cities,” Fitzgerald said. “The level of competition has risen dramatically. Our clubs are attracting better players, experienced coaches are building real programs, and every season these organizations become more sophisticated on and off the field.”
The DFL will remain at 12 franchises for Season 7, allowing the league to build upon its existing national footprint while continuing to strengthen the quality of its on-field product.
Under the new agreement, media revenue will continue to be shared equally among all franchises, with each receiving $2.5 million regardless of market size or individual television appearances.
“That equal distribution is important to us,” Fitzgerald said. “When the DFL grows, every franchise should have the resources to grow with it. We want strong organizations and meaningful competition throughout the league.”
The $30 million agreement represents an increase of approximately 39 percent over Season 6 media revenue and ten times the $3 million distributed to clubs just two seasons ago.
“Season 7 is not about proving that the DFL can become a national league anymore,” Fitzgerald added. “We’ve done that. Now it’s about seeing just how good this league can become.”
