Lyrics

August 17, 2026

\[Verse 1\]

Wore my old sweatshirt on the first day

Like it could keep the whole world small

Same hallways, different heartbeat

New names echoing off the wall

I used to know where I was going

Now I’m counting every step

Everybody looks so certain

I’m just trying to catch my breath

\[Pre-Chorus\]

They say, "Act like you belong here"

Like that’s easy, like that’s clean

When you’re laughing in the bright lights

And shaking in between

\[Chorus\]

I’m just getting started

Still learning how to let go

Of the girl in the back row

Who thought she had to know

Everything, all at once

Now I’m a little bit louder

A little less sorry now

If the whole world’s moving faster

I’m still finding out how

To be somebody, not just somebody’s daughter

I’m just getting started

\[Verse 2\]

Heard the city through my earbuds

Saw the skyline through the glass

Everybody’s got a deadline

And a story from their past

They tell you, "Make it count now"

Like there’s only one first chance

But I’m not made of perfect

I’m made of all the mess I’m in

\[Pre-Chorus\]

And the boys with their loud opinions

And the girls who never blink

They can talk about the future

I’m still learning what to think

\[Chorus\]

I’m just getting started

Still learning how to let go

Of the girl in the back row

Who thought she had to know

Everything, all at once

Now I’m a little bit louder

A little less sorry now

If the whole world’s moving faster

I’m still finding out how

To be somebody, not just somebody’s daughter

I’m just getting started

\[Bridge\]

And maybe growing up is messy

Maybe change is not polite

Maybe I don’t need permission

To take up space in my own life

If I cry in the bathroom mirror

If I miss who I used to be

That don’t mean I’m going backward

It just means I’m finally free

\[Chorus\]

I’m just getting started

Still learning how to let go

Of the girl in the back row

Who thought she had to know

Everything, all at once

Now I’m a little bit louder

A little less sorry now

If the whole world’s moving faster

I’m still finding out how

To be somebody, not just somebody’s daughter

I’m just getting started

\[Outro\]

I’m just getting started

I’m just getting started

Fresh pages, open heart

Yeah, I’m just getting started
