Parties, Filings & Primaries
Join or leave a party, file as a party candidate or Independent, and understand how party status relates to primaries.
Open PartiesParty membership is optional
A character without an active party membership files as an Independent. Joining a party gives access to that party's HQ and party-specific activity. You may leave from the party interface, but one active party is allowed per player account and party-switching rules can prevent an immediate new membership.
File with the status you have
The filing page shows your active party or Independent status and files you into the next scheduled cycle for that seat. Candidate actions still require a valid filing. Check the filing page and the election record for the current race status rather than assuming a party change edits an existing filing.
Primaries are time-bound
Party affiliation used for a primary is recorded when the primary closes. Changing membership while a race is underway can therefore have different consequences before and after that deadline. The live filing, primary deadline, and election record are authoritative for an individual race.
