Biography
Nathaniel “Nate” Weiss is the incumbent Governor of Colorado, a Boulder native and the son of a public librarian and a small-business accountant. A lifelong tinkerer who won science fairs before earning dual degrees in Computer Science and Economics (and later a Master’s in Energy Systems), Weiss co-founded EcoGrid, a renewable-energy startup that became a regional success story in smart-grid innovation. Drawn into public service by climate policy and ethical entrepreneurship, he entered state government with a reputation for meticulous, pragmatic problem-solving. As Lieutenant Governor, he helped launch Colorado’s tech investment fund, expand rural broadband, and steer task forces on climate innovation and workforce retraining. Now as Governor, Weiss has pushed a “future-ready Colorado” agenda: accelerating affordable housing construction, modernizing digital government services, scaling clean-energy and wildfire-mitigation projects, and negotiating bipartisan progress on water and infrastructure for both the Front Range and the Western Slope. Known for a calm, data-driven style that appeals to suburban professionals as well as rural moderates, he’s seen not just as an administrator but as an architect of long-term resilience—balancing technocratic efficiency with a commitment to equity and broad-based opportunity.
