Stark Industries is committing $50,000 to help up to 200 Houston-area residents cover urgent prescription costs they are struggling to afford.

The Houston Prescription Bridge will provide up to $250 per person toward an eligible prescription when cost creates an immediate barrier to obtaining medication.

The program will prioritize lower-income residents with limited or no prescription coverage, older adults, people with disabilities, and households experiencing significant financial hardship. Assistance will not be first-come, first-served. If requests exceed available funding, priority will be based on financial need, urgency, lack of affordable alternatives, and the consequences of delayed access.

Stark will seek established Houston-area pharmacies, healthcare organizations, and community-assistance programs to help administer the initiative. No organization will be identified as participating until an agreement is confirmed.

Payments will be made directly to participating pharmacies or qualified assistance partners, not distributed as unrestricted cash. The program will cover prescription costs only; Stark will not make medical decisions or determine what medication someone should receive. Eligibility will require confirmation of the prescription and the resident's out-of-pocket cost while minimizing collection of medical information.

Before applications open, Stark will publish eligibility requirements, participating payment options, documentation requirements, and ways to apply online or with assistance.

Within 60 days, Stark will report the number of applications received, residents approved and assisted, average assistance provided, eligible residents who could not be funded, and total prescription costs covered. Medical information and individual identities will remain private.

Residents whose needs exceed the $250 limit will receive information about available manufacturer, pharmacy, nonprofit, or community-assistance programs where appropriate, without any promise that outside assistance will be available.
