HydraOne Detroit Smart Vision & Innovation Initiative

HydraOne today launches the Detroit Smart Vision & Innovation Initiative, a community technology program helping Detroit businesses, schools, nonprofits, and public agencies explore practical applications of computer vision and artificial intelligence.
Working with the Detroit Public Library, Wayne State University, TechTown Detroit, Detroit at Work, and local small-business organizations, HydraOne will host 24 free, hands-on workshops throughout Detroit during its first year.
The initiative will provide practical demonstrations covering workplace safety, manufacturing automation, accessibility technologies, public-safety applications, and AI-powered visual analytics. HydraOne commits to training more than 500 Detroit residents, assisting at least 50 Detroit organizations, and creating internship and mentorship opportunities for students interested in advanced technology careers.
Progress will be measured through workshop attendance, participating organizations, completed training, and workforce placements—helping strengthen Detroit's technology ecosystem through measurable community impact.
