HydraOne is launching the Detroit Connected Communities Initiative, a year-long community technology program expanding digital access, communication, and technology skills for Detroit residents, nonprofits, schools, and small businesses.

In partnership with the Detroit Public Library Main Branch, TechTown Detroit, Wayne State University, Detroit at Work, and local neighborhood organizations, HydraOne will host 24 free workshops at library and community-center locations across Detroit. Registration will be available online through HydraOne and at participating partner locations, with walk-ins welcome as space allows.

During the first year, HydraOne aims to provide hands-on technology training to 500 Detroit residents, assist 50 local organizations, help 250 participants enroll in digital services, and issue 100 completion certificates for workforce-ready technology skills.

Success will be measured through attendance, completed registrations, participant satisfaction, technology adoption, and continued engagement with community partners—supporting a stronger, more connected Detroit through practical, measurable results.

Why It Landed This Way

A credible, well-scoped Detroit program with recognizable local partners, free access, a year-long schedule, and measurable targets. The workshop volume and attendance goals are plausible. It would be stronger with clearer examples of the skills taught and named neighborhood locations, but it should earn steady local goodwill and modest public attention.

What Players Should Expect

This event gives the business its strongest bump during the first 24 hours, followed by a smaller lingering boost for the next few days.
