Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, that the Commonwealth shall establish a targeted healthcare workforce initiative to improve access to care in rural and medically underserved communities, with priority consideration for veterans and veteran-serving providers, by funding time-limited loan repayment and retention incentives for physicians, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and emergency medical personnel who commit to practice in designated shortage areas; expanding telehealth grant support for rural hospitals, clinics, and community health centers, including broadband-connected equipment and interstate care coordination where permitted by law; and directing the appropriate state agencies to strengthen procurement planning for essential medicines, mobile clinic supplies, and critical medical equipment so as to reduce service disruptions and improve continuity of care.
