A bill to require all state and local law enforcement agencies and detention facilities in Florida to use best efforts to cooperate with lawful federal immigration detainer requests and information-sharing requirements, except where prohibited by federal or state court order; to require private employers with 25 or more employees and all public employers to verify the work eligibility of new hires through the federal E-Verify system; to provide for state audits, civil penalties, and suspension of certain state licenses for repeated knowing violations; and to direct the relevant state agencies to adopt rules, training, and reporting standards to implement this act in a manner that protects public safety, promotes lawful employment, and safeguards Florida workers.
