The Secure Communities and Border Enforcement Act

This bill would strengthen cooperation among federal, state, and local authorities on immigration enforcement by expanding information-sharing, training, and grants for jurisdictions that assist federal agencies in identifying and transferring noncitizens charged with or convicted of serious violent offenses, consistent with constitutional protections and due process. It would also provide additional resources for border surveillance, personnel, detention capacity, immigration-court processing, and the timely removal of violent criminal offenders following final orders of removal, while requiring regular public reporting on program costs, outcomes, and civil-rights compliance.
