The Revitalizing Industrial Communities and Affordable Housing Act

This bill would authorize a competitive Department of Housing and Urban Development grant program to help eligible cities and counties acquire, remediate, and convert vacant or underused industrial properties into mixed-income housing, with priority for projects that include local labor, preserve historic structures where feasible, and remain affordable for at least 30 years. It would also expand Housing Choice Voucher funding and provide temporary rental assistance for working families facing rent burdens, while requiring participating communities to demonstrate responsible zoning, environmental compliance, and transparent use of federal funds.
