Rural and Tribal Housing Resilience Act

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development shall establish a competitive grant program for rural communities and federally recognized Indian Tribes to finance the construction, rehabilitation, and preservation of affordable housing. Grants shall prioritize projects that address severe housing shortages, reduce energy and utility costs, and incorporate climate-resilient standards appropriate to local conditions. Tribal applicants may administer funds directly or through agreements with state or local governments, and no provision of this Act shall diminish tribal sovereignty, self-government, or authority over housing and land-use decisions.
