This bill would require all employers nationwide to use the federal E-Verify system for new hires, with phased implementation, reasonable correction procedures, and penalties for repeated knowing violations. It would establish competitive grants through the Department of Homeland Security for state and local law-enforcement agencies that assist federal immigration authorities with identifying and transferring removable noncitizens, provided participating agencies complete federal training, comply with constitutional protections, and maintain public reporting on grant use and enforcement outcomes.
