Beningham Surges Into Final Primary Stretch With Cash Edge, Endorsements, and Statewide Blitz
With nine days until the February 25 Democratic primary, Calvin Beningham has re-entered the race with a statewide push shaking up the contest against Paletuatoa Peniamina. After a quieter stretch, Beningham is running targeted TV ads in Orlando–Gainesville and Jacksonville–Tallahassee, a $500,000 Spanish-language buy in Miami–West Palm Beach, and rallies in Orange, Duval, and Miami-Dade counties, emphasizing electability, economic stewardship, and executive competence.
Beningham’s strategy targets moderates in Central and North Florida while consolidating liberal support in South Florida. He stresses that winning the primary isn’t just about ideology: “In a Democratic primary, values matter. But in November, math matters too.” With $3.17 million cash on hand, the highest among Democrats, he can dominate paid media and turnout operations.
The campaign also earned Democratic presidential nominee Nathan Landberger’s endorsement, signaling national confidence in Beningham’s general-election viability. While Peniamina leads in early polling, Beningham’s combination of financial resources, executive experience, and strategic outreach is narrowing the gap. In the final sprint, his dual-track messaging—progressive in Miami, moderate in battleground counties—aims to unify the base and attract late-deciding voters. One strategist notes: “If the question is who can win in November, Beningham is making the strongest case.”
