Governor Acton Issues Public Call for Passage of Texas Energy Security and Power Act of 2026

5/1/2026, 3:50:31 PM · David Acton · Issue: Energy

Governor David Acton today urged the Texas Legislature to swiftly pass the Texas Energy Security and Power Act of 2026, critical legislation to expand reliable energy, secure the ERCOT grid, and fuel economic growth. “Texas needs more affordable, dispatchable power to support our booming economy and families,” said Governor Acton. “This bill cuts red tape with 90-day permitting, boosts natural gas and advanced nuclear projects, strengthens grid security against threats, and encourages private partnerships with data centers and manufacturers that need more power all without new taxes or spending.” Key provisions include streamlined approvals for energy and infrastructure projects, low-interest loans for dispatchable generation, a Grid Security Task Force, and voluntary public-private agreements for firm power. The bill is ready for action in the current monthly session. “Pass this bill to keep Texas the energy capital of the world and deliver reliable power for our future,” Acton said.
