TULSA, Okla. — Electronic artist and producer GRAYWOLF has released a deeply personal new song, “What You Gave Me,” in memory of her late grandfather.

The track opens with an archival recording of her grandfather performing a traditional chant. His voice is followed by a quiet piano interpretation of the same melody before GRAYWOLF enters with original lyrics reflecting on memory, inheritance, family, and the ways a loved one’s influence continues long after they are gone.

Rather than treating the recording as a sample or production effect, GRAYWOLF built the song around it, allowing her grandfather’s voice to lead the arrangement.

“This isn’t a single in the usual sense,” GRAYWOLF said. “I’m not releasing it to chase a chart or start a campaign. I made it because I found his voice again, and I needed to answer it.”

The lyrics draw from intimate memories—worn hands, open palms, an old oak table, winter soup, and the quiet lessons passed between generations. The recurring chorus centers on a simple promise:

“I carry what you gave me.”

The song’s production remains restrained, moving from the original recording into piano, warm atmospheric textures, and a gradual melodic build. The focus remains on the relationship between grandfather and granddaughter, with the track unfolding as a conversation across time.

GRAYWOLF will not support the release with a paid marketing campaign. It is being shared simply as a memorial and as an expression of gratitude.
