Tulsa electronic artist and producer GRAYWOLF has released “What You Gave Me,” a new song dedicated to her late grandfather and built around an archival recording of his voice.

According to a press release, the track begins with the grandfather performing a traditional chant. A quiet piano interpretation of the melody follows before GRAYWOLF enters with original lyrics focused on family memory, inheritance and the continuing influence of a loved one after death.

The artist, whose name is Talia Graywolf, said the recording was intended to serve as the foundation of the arrangement rather than as a conventional sample or production element. The song moves from the archival recording into piano, atmospheric electronic textures and a gradual melodic build, the release said.

“This isn’t a single in the usual sense,” GRAYWOLF said in the release. “I’m not releasing it to chase a chart or start a campaign. I made it because I found his voice again, and I needed to answer it.”

The lyrics reference personal memories including worn hands, open palms, an old oak table and winter soup. Its recurring chorus centers on the line, “I carry what you gave me.”

GRAYWOLF is a Tulsa-based DJ and producer whose work has been described as melodic electronic music centered on unity, resilience and connection. Her earlier debut album, We Gather as One, received critical praise and earned her a Best New Artist nomination at the 5th Harmonix Awards, according to the release.

The artist will not undertake a paid marketing campaign for “What You Gave Me,” the press release said. Instead, she is sharing the song as a memorial and expression of gratitude toward her grandfather.
