Governor Weiss Supports Bringing DFL Team to Denver

6/14/2026, 9:38:19 PM · Nate Weiss

Governor Weiss has thrown his support behind a movement started by the Colorado state legislator Jordan Carter to bring a DFL team to Colorado. The DFL is mostly just an east coast league still and Carter has reportedly not been able to talk any teams into relocation. However, as momentum builds for the suggestion it is still possible. In particular, Roanoke is seeking to move. Rumors were they were going to Atlanta or New York, but Denver might be an appealing option if they can get stadium cost assistance.

Governor Weiss said on Twitter:

"I have heard the same rumors, but do not know of any official conversations. I, for one, would welcome a DFL team in Denver and I'm sure many of the people of Colorado would agree. We could maybe even help with stadium upgrades if the situation is right.

A DFL team in Denver helps local business and it helps broaden the league's appeal. This results in higher TV revenue for the league which would more than make up for transportation costs.

Hey DFL, come to Denver!"
