Declan O’Shea Releases New Music Marking a Bold New Chapter in His Sound
Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Shea today releases three powerful new songs, “Love Like a Fire,” “River Take Me Down,” and “Blood in the Water,” signaling a new era in his evolving sound. The new music blends indie folk storytelling with blues, soul, and roots rock influences, showcasing a darker, more mature style shaped by O’Shea’s recent experiences on the road.
Written over the past year following his U.S. tour, the songs reflect a period of personal and artistic growth. While O’Shea first gained attention for his atmospheric folk songwriting rooted in Irish imagery, his latest work expands into broader themes of love, ambition, doubt, and emotional reckoning. The result is a sound that draws from both sides of the Atlantic, combining the lyrical depth of modern folk with the grit and soul of American blues and gospel traditions.
“Love Like a Fire” serves as the project’s driving anthem, building from a moody opening into a soaring, choir-backed chorus about passion and the destructive beauty of love. “River Take Me Down” offers a slower, more reflective moment, a blues-infused ballad about surrendering to change and leaving the past behind. Rounding out the release is “Blood in the Water,” a dark, brooding track driven by gritty guitar and a tense rhythm that explores ambition, rivalry, and survival.
“These songs came out of the last couple of years of traveling, writing, and trying to make sense of where life was going,” O’Shea said. “They’re a bit heavier, a bit louder, and maybe a bit more honest than anything I’ve released before.”
The release marks the beginning of O’Shea’s next phase as an artist, one that leans into powerful vocals, blues-driven guitar work, and cinematic arrangements while maintaining the storytelling that first defined his work.
O’Shea will also launch a U.S. tour beginning March 5, bringing the new material to audiences across the country.
