Delta Blues sign offensive lineman Martinez to two year contract
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE — The Delta Blues announced today that the team has signed offensive lineman Rico Martinez to a two-year contract, bolstering the club’s offensive line with one of the most physical young guards available on the free agent market.
Martinez, a Yuma, Arizona native, brings a reputation for toughness, discipline, and relentless play to Memphis after developing into a standout at Arizona State on the Norfolk Admirals.
“Rico plays the kind of football we want to be known for,” said Delta Blues Owner Madison Hillman. “He’s physical, he’s disciplined, and he finishes every rep. That identity fits exactly with what we’re building here in Memphis.”
Originally a high school wrestler, Martinez’s background has translated directly to his success in the trenches, where leverage, balance, and hand placement define his game. After beginning his collegiate career at the junior college level, he earned a transfer to Arizona State, where he established himself as a dependable and hard-nosed presence along the offensive line.
Off the field, Martinez is known for his quiet demeanor and team-first approach, earning respect through preparation and consistency rather than words. His journey reflects the kind of resilience the Delta Blues aim to represent.
Martinez will join the team immediately for offseason training activities.
