The DFL has made its Season 6 championship destination official: St. Louis.
Commissioner Kyle Fitzgerald selected The Dome at America’s Center for the league’s biggest game, moving the championship onto a neutral stage and giving St. Louis a turn at the center of the football world.
On the surface, this is a venue announcement. In the fine print, it may be something more.
A neutral-site championship gives the DFL room to think beyond individual home markets. It creates a destination event, opens the door to broader sponsorship and media attention, and gives the league a chance to build its championship into something that feels bigger than one team’s home finale.
That matters because the DFL appears to be growing into a more national product. The more the league expands its audience, the more important choices like championship locations, market visibility, and event presentation become.
There is still plenty we do not know. The league has not publicly explained how St. Louis was selected, what other cities were considered, or whether neutral-site championships will become the norm.
But one thing is clear: the DFL is no longer treating its final like just another game.
St. Louis gets Season 6.
Now we find out whether the league is building a tradition—or testing a bigger idea.
