The game began as a tight exchange. Denver’s first possession ended with a punt, and Delta followed with a field goal to take the first lead. That was the high point of the afternoon for the Blues’ offense.
Denver answered immediately with a touchdown drive built on steady quarterback play from Evander Holt and the running of Pike. The Summit then added a field goal on their next possession, pushing ahead before another Delta punt returned the ball to a Denver offense that was settling into control. Pike capped the next Summit march with his second rushing touchdown, creating a two-score margin that Delta never seriously threatened.
Denver added a late field goal, but the defining element was the consistency of its operation. Holt completed 18 of 28 passes for 212 yards without a touchdown or interception, repeatedly moving the chains and giving Denver the balance to keep returning to Pike. Pike handled 23 rushing attempts, supplying the finishing power behind an offense that put points on the board in each of its scoring opportunities.
The Summit’s receivers supplied a relentless middle-of-the-field presence. Gregory Johnson caught 12 passes for 127 yards, while Dallas Key added six catches for 85 yards.
