The Louisville Colonels have signed free-agent defensive back Trevor Kline to a one-season contract, making a targeted addition to the roster during the latest DFL transaction window.

Kline joins Louisville as a defensive back, a position group with responsibilities that can range from coverage assignments against receivers to support against the run and contributions on special teams. The signing gives the Colonels another option in the secondary for the coming season.

The move follows a busy period around the DFL in which teams have continued shaping their rosters through the draft, free agency and player development. Louisville recently added a player through the draft, and the Kline signing represents a separate step in building out the club’s available personnel.

A one-season agreement gives both the player and team a defined short-term arrangement. For Louisville, it adds Kline to the defensive backfield without committing beyond the upcoming season. For Kline, the deal provides a new opportunity with a Colonels team continuing to assemble its roster.

No further terms of the agreement were included with the transaction announcement.

The DFL’s latest window also included training improvements for Devin Holloway and Michael Turner, underscoring the range of roster activity taking place across the league. The Delta Blues, meanwhile, received an owner cash infusion.

For Louisville, however, the central development was the arrival of Kline. Defensive back is a role where depth can be important over the course of a season, particularly as teams manage weekly game plans and personnel demands across the defense.

The Colonels’ signing does not settle every question about how the secondary will be arranged, but it does establish Kline as part of the club’s roster plans for the next season. As the DFL’s teams continue their preparations, Louisville has added a free-agent defensive back with a one-season commitment in place.
