Lyrics

\[Intro\]\
\[Emergency operator voice\]\
Attention, attention—this is not a drill.\
The city has reported a dangerous increase in syllables.

\[Spoken\]\
Eighteen months? Relax. I was busy being unavailable.

\[Verse 1\]\
I took one little sabbatical, look at the panic parade,\
Fans in the comments with a calendar blade.\
“Where is the album?”—I’m eating, behave,\
Had to put my phone in a witness protection case.\
Rappers got comfy, started stretching in my lane,\
Critics wrote my obituary, then misspelled my name.\
Every think-piece sweating through a tasteful beret,\
“Is she done?”—No, I was simply away.

I return with a tote bag, receipts, and a grin,\
Two missed calls from the label: “Can you please clock in?”\
I said, “Define please,” then I kicked in the door,\
Now the hallway needs a waiver and a mop for the floor.\
Political reputation? I’m a bipartisan threat,\
Left wing, right wing—both are flapping in debt.\
I don’t campaign, I confiscate the debate,\
Put a joke in the ballot box and make the pundits translate.

\[Pre-Chorus\]\
Somebody pull the fire alarm, somebody page the brass,\
The rumor mill is smoking and the sirens say—

\[Chorus\]\
The assassin’s back, clear the map, clear the track,\
Eighteen months gone, now the whole room cracks.\
The assassin’s back—tell the comfortable pack,\
If you hear that little laugh, better hand your crown back.\
The assassin’s back, no, I’m not taking requests,\
I brought punchlines in a duffel and a warrant for your chest.\
The assassin’s back—everybody yell it fast:\
The assassin’s back, and the waiting is past!

\[Beat Stop\]\
\[Spoken, dry\]\
That was the warm-up. You may now lower your expectations.

\[Verse 2\]\
I’m a loophole in a leather jacket, a typo with a thesis,\
A flea-market genius with the premium releases.\
Executives kneel like, “Please, we need another Fool’s Gold,”\
I said, “Bring a better offer and a less predictable mold.”\
They want the old recipe, I brought a blender full of fireworks,\
A bassline with a fake mustache, drums doing office work.\
I autograph the air, then invoice the breeze,\
Make a boardroom do the worm while I rhyme overseas.

Absence made the gossip grow legs and a podcast,\
Every panel had a theory, every theory got surpassed.\
They measured my silence with a corporate ruler,\
I was writing sixteen bars on a broken calculator.\
Now the meter’s acrobatic, elastic, dramatic,\
I stack a backflip inside a sarcastic asthmatic.\
My cadence changes outfits in the middle of a sentence,\
Your favorite favorite rapper needs a map and a dentist.

\[Character Voice: nervous executive\]\
“Could you maybe make it accessible?”

\[Spoken\]\
Sure. Here’s a staircase. Climb it.

I’m politically inconvenient, musically rude,\
A public-service menace with a very good mood.\
I make both sides nervous, then I charge them for the seat,\
Put a grin on the scandal and a tap shoe on the beat.

\[Bridge\]\
\[Comic sample: emergency siren\]\
Please remain calm while the syllables multiply.\
Do not approach the microphone.\
It is already approaching you.

\[Verse 3\]\
Now zip it, flip it, split it, I’m a mischief mechanic,\
With a rhythm so athletic it needs its own medic.\
I bend a bar backward, make a clause do a cartwheel,\
Put a pun in a chokehold, make a metaphor snort steel.\
Internal rhyme in a spiral, rival, survival is viral,\
I’m a five-alarm fire drill conducted by a one-woman choir.\
Every consonant’s cocked, every vowel’s on a mission,\
I turn a simple little sentence to a hostile deposition.

I’m back with the black-bag mathematics, slapdash acrobatics,\
Bad-news broadcast tactics, laugh-track diagnostics.\
Critics keep tabs? I keep tabs on the critics,\
Then staple their predictions to a folder marked “ridiculous.”\
The label wants gold, I give them foolproof fool’s gold,\
A glittering decoy with a temperature-controlled soul.\
They said, “Can you tone it down?” I said, “Which tone?\
The one in my voice, or the dial on your phone?”

\[Beat Switch\]\
\[Rapid-fire\]\
I’m a comma with a karma, a drama in pajamas,\
A grammar grandmaster with a camera full of llamas.\
I’m a verbal velociraptor, an offbeat overachiever,\
A punchline parachutist dropping jokes through your receiver.\
No filler, no filter, no counterfeit glitter,\
I deliver syllable shrapnel in a miniature flitter.\
Tick-tock, hip-hop, wristwatch, flip-flop,\
Big talk, zip-lock, every weak thought gets zip-locked.\
I’m the audit, the outage, the odd little omen,\
The note in the margins that the textbook left open.\
I’m the reason your reason got a seasonal cough,\
The punchline walked in and the whole premise walked off.

\[Final Chorus\]\
The assassin’s back, clear the map, clear the track,\
Eighteen months gone, now the whole room cracks.\
The assassin’s back—tell the comfortable pack,\
If you hear that little laugh, better hand your crown back.\
The assassin’s back, no, I’m not taking requests,\
I brought punchlines in a duffel and a warrant for your chest.\
The assassin’s back—everybody yell it fast:\
The assassin’s back, and the waiting is past!

\[Outro\]\
\[Spoken, amused\]\
Thank you for your patience during this completely avoidable emergency.\
The album is coming.\
Please stop refreshing the page.\
Actually—keep refreshing it. I enjoy the attention.
