Lyrics

April 20, 2026

[Verse 1]
You asked how I’d been
I said I’m fine, left out the wreckage
All of the late night spins
Staring at the ceiling, tracing messages
You didn’t twist my arm
You just let me fill in the sentence
You didn’t lie, I just believed it
I heard what I wanted to hear

[Chorus]
I knew better
Still I walked right in
Told myself it’s different
When it’s you, it’s different
You didn’t lie, I just believed it
Built a future from a glance, then grieved it
You never promised anything
I just needed you to mean it
That’s on me
Yeah, that’s on me

[Verse 2]
You said you’re bad at love
I laughed it off, called you dramatic
Thought I could be enough
To turn your patterns into magic
You always kept your keys
Right there by the door, just in case
I never asked you why
Didn’t wanna risk the answer

[Chorus]
I knew better
Still I held on tight
Read between the lines
Till I blurred my sight
You didn’t lie, I just believed it
Heard a vow when you were talking casual
You never said you’d stay
I just planned like you had said it
That’s on me
Yeah, that’s on me

[Bridge]
I replay every word
Looking for some hidden meaning
But it’s all the same
Simple, plain speaking
You were honest in your way
I just dressed it up in hope
Guess it hurts a little extra
When the wound is from yourself (oh)

[Chorus]
I knew better
Still I crossed that line
Turned all of your warnings
Into some kind of sign
You didn’t lie, I just believed it
Loved the echo more than what you said then
You never promised anything
I just needed you to mean it
That’s on me
Yeah, that’s on me
