Lyrics

March 5, 2026

(Verse 1)
He carved her open with a kitchen blade
Left her leaking on the tile, still warm
They found the smile on his face in the booking photo
Said he “snapped,” blamed the bottle, blamed the storm
Three years served, good behavior, early release
Walked out smiling, same hands, same teeth

(Pre-Chorus)
The system whispered “second chance”
While her mother still sleeps with the lights on
They call it mercy
I call it reloading

(Chorus)
Mercy to the guilty, justice to the grave
Let the wolves run free, let the lambs behave
Blood on the floor, blood on the street
They hand out forgiveness while the wounded bleed
Mercy to the guilty, soft-hearted and blind
Every light sentence is another crime signed
We cradle the monster
And call it kind

(Verse 2)
He raped the girl behind the gas station
Twice before, same block, same grin
Plea deal, time served, ankle monitor thin
Out in eighteen months, hunting again
Next victim found in the drainage ditch
Same smile, same hands, same switch

(Pre-Chorus)
The judge spoke of “rehabilitation”
The parole board nodded, papers signed
They gave him structure
He gave her a gravestone

(Chorus)
Mercy to the guilty, justice to the grave
Let the wolves run free, let the lambs behave
Blood on the floor, blood on the street
They hand out forgiveness while the wounded bleed
Mercy to the guilty, soft-hearted and blind
Every light sentence is another crime signed
We cradle the monster
And call it kind

(Bridge)
Cowards in robes, cowards in suits
Afraid of the truth, afraid of the noose
They trade the scales for a therapy couch
While the next girl screams with his hands on her mouth
They’ll quote statistics, they’ll quote remorse
They’ll quote redemption like it’s a source
But the dead don’t care about second tries
And the living are tired of the lies

(Final Chorus)
Mercy to the guilty, justice to the grave
Let the wolves run free, let the lambs behave
Blood on the cradle, blood on the bed
Another light sentence, another girl dead
Mercy to the guilty, soft-hearted and blind
Every plea bargain is another life signed
We cradle the monster
We feed it our kind
We call it mercy
And it’s killing us blind

(Outro)
Mercy…
Mercy…
To the guilty…
And the rest of us pay
In blood
In silence
Every day
