Lyrics

March 6, 2026

Windows down on a summer night
County road under pale moonlight
Radio singing an old love song
Two young hearts trying to hold on

Your daddy’s truck parked by the field
Rust on the tailgate, tires on gravel and steel
We were laughing like we had forever
Just two kids and a night to remember

We didn’t know how fast time could run
Back when forever had just begun

In the backseat of a Ford on a gravel road
Where the stars burned bright and the world moved slow
Your hand in mine like a promise we swore
In the backseat of a Ford
We were young, we were wild, we believed every word
Every dream that we whispered and every hope we heard
Those nights still live in my heart for sure
Back in the backseat of a Ford

Now that road’s got a highway sign
And the old field’s turned to county lines
But every time I pass that bend
I swear I hear your voice again

Funny how life takes its own course
But some memories never lose their force

In the backseat of a Ford on a gravel road
Where the stars burned bright and the world moved slow
Your hand in mine like a promise we swore
In the backseat of a Ford
We were young, we were wild, we believed every word
Every dream that we whispered and every hope we heard
Those nights still live in my heart for sure
Back in the backseat of a Ford

Maybe we knew it wouldn’t last forever
But that night we were holding heaven together

In the backseat of a Ford on a gravel road
Where the stars burned bright and the world moved slow
Your hand in mine like a promise we swore
In the backseat of a Ford
We were young, we were wild, we believed every word
Every dream that we whispered and every hope we heard
Those nights still live in my heart for sure
Back in the backseat of a Ford

Yeah those memories still roar
From the backseat of a Ford
