Lyrics

December 15, 2025

(Verse 1)
We were dancing in the kitchen at 2 a.m.,
Laughing like the world would wait for us.
You said, “Stay a while,” then checked your phone,
Like something better might show up.

I memorized the way you said my name,
Like it meant more than it did.
I gave you all the best of me,
You gave me “almost,” then you hid.

(Pre-Chorus)
I kept leaning in, you kept pulling back,
I called it patience, you called it space.
Funny how I saw forever there,
You just saw a phase.

(Chorus)
We were almost right, but never enough,
Almost love, but it fell apart.
You held my hand, but not my heart,
Left me here with the hardest part.
We were almost home, but lost the map,
Almost yours, but you let me go.
It hurts the most ‘cause I still don’t know—
How “almost right” can feel this close.

(Verse 2)
Your hoodie still smells like yesterday,
Like promises you didn’t keep.
You said I was “too good for this,”
Then left me drowning in the deep.

I replay every word you said,
Try to find where I went wrong.
But loving you shouldn’t feel like work,
Or holding on when it’s gone.

(Pre-Chorus)
I kept showing up, you kept your guard,
I gave you truth, you gave me parts.
Funny how I saw forever there,
You just saw the start.

(Bridge)
Maybe someday I’ll thank you for the truth,
For showing me what love’s not supposed to do.
I won’t beg, I won’t chase,
I won’t shrink just to take your place.

(Final Chorus)
We were almost right, but that’s okay,
Almost love still taught me how to stay.
Next time I’ll choose someone who knows
That “almost” isn’t how love goes.
We were almost right, now I see—
You weren’t wrong, just wrong for me.

(Outro)
Yeah…
Almost right.
