And I'm here because the South is changing — and South Carolina is leading the way. **Let me tell you what I see in the New South.** I see Black voters who have been the backbone of this party for generations — and who deserve more than just a thank you. I see young people who are ready to build a future that works for everyone. I see suburban women who are tired of being told what they can and cannot do with their own bodies. I see working families who are tired of the squeeze. **And I see a choice.** The other side wants to take us backward. They want to pass the SAVE Act to suppress the vote. They want to ban abortion nationwide. They want to cut Medicare. They want to gut Social Security. They want to take us backward. But Paletuatoa Peniamina signed the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. He restored the protections that were gutted in 2013. He made it easier to vote, not harder. He raised the minimum wage. He capped rent increases. He protected the right to choose. **He fought for us. Now we need to fight for him.** **To the Black voters in this room:** You are the heart of this party. You are the soul of this movement. I see you. I honor you. And I will fight with you. **To the young people:** You are the future. Don't let anyone tell you the South isn't worth fighting for. It is. And with your help, we will win it. **To the suburban women:** You are the deciders. I hear you. I will protect your rights. I will protect your families. I will protect your future. **To everyone in this room:** Vote like South Carolina depends on it — because it does. Vote like your voice depends on it — because it does.
