Ratings summarize roster strength

The team uses its best available positional starters to form offense and defense ratings. Overall rating is the average of offense and defense. These ratings shape game strength, but individual simulations can still vary.

Position balance matters

Quarterback has the largest single offensive weight, while defensive backs collectively have the largest defensive weight. A weak required position can hold down the unit even when another position is excellent.

Coaching contribution

The head coach affects both units. The offensive coordinator affects offense and the defensive coordinator affects defense. Each coach is compared with the league average for that same role.

Mechanics

How results are calculated

These rules come from the game calculation. Live market values and event-specific settings can still change the final result where noted.

Offense rating

Rule

35% QB + 25% RB + 20% OL + 20% average of WR1 and WR2 + head-coach modifier + offensive-coordinator modifier.

  • The best eligible players at each required position are used.
  • Missing or weak depth at a required position reduces the unit result.

Defense rating

Rule

30% DL + 30% LB + 40% average of DB1 and DB2 + head-coach modifier + defensive-coordinator modifier.

  • Overall rating is the average of final offense and defense.

Coach modifier

Rule

(Coach role rating − league average for that role) ÷ 12, clamped from -4 to +4.

  • An above-average coach adds rating points; a below-average coach subtracts them.
  • The cap prevents even an extreme coach gap from adding or subtracting more than four points per role.

Worked example

A coordinator rated 18 points above the league role average adds 1.5 points to that unit.
