Idaho Work Authorization and Public Contract Integrity Act

This Act requires Idaho employers and public contractors, as permitted by federal law, to verify the work authorization of newly hired employees through the federal E-Verify system, and requires contractors receiving state funds to certify compliance with these requirements. The Idaho Department of Labor shall provide compliance guidance and investigate credible complaints, while violations shall be subject to notice, an opportunity to cure, and civil penalties that increase for repeat offenses, including temporary ineligibility for state contracts. Nothing in this Act authorizes state enforcement of federal immigration law or permits discrimination based on national origin, citizenship, or lawful immigration status.
