The Affordable, Resilient Communities and Conservation Act

This Act establishes a competitive grant program within the Department of Housing and Urban Development to support the construction and rehabilitation of affordable, energy-efficient housing in communities facing significant housing costs or growth pressures. Grants may fund efficient building systems, weatherization, transit-oriented development, and infrastructure upgrades, with priority for projects that preserve wetlands, forests, farmland, and other nearby natural areas through responsible land-use planning. Applicants must demonstrate meaningful local engagement, compliance with applicable environmental laws, and measures to limit displacement of existing residents.
