Full text

This bill would establish a targeted grant program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development to support the construction, rehabilitation, and weatherization of affordable housing in remote, high-cost communities, including Alaska’s fishing villages and eligible Tribal communities. Grants would prioritize projects that use durable or modular construction, withstand severe weather and flooding, and are developed in partnership with local governments, housing authorities, Tribal governments, and community organizations. The program would provide enhanced federal cost-sharing for communities facing unusually high transportation and construction expenses, subject to annual funding authorized by Congress.
