Ohio Industrial Communities Housing and Homeownership Act

This bill would authorize $500 million through the Department of Housing and Urban Development for competitive grants to Ohio communities with persistent housing vacancy, industrial decline, or displacement pressures to build and rehabilitate affordable workforce housing. Grants would support mixed-income rental homes, preservation of existing affordable units, and down-payment and closing-cost assistance for first-time homebuyers earning up to 120 percent of area median income, with priority for locally employed residents and projects that leverage state, local, and private investment while preventing displacement.
