Housing Affordability and Community Stability Act
Summary
This bill would try to lower housing costs by expanding affordable housing tax credits, rewarding states and cities that make it easier to build multifamily and mixed-income housing, and funding preservation of existing subsidized units. It also ties some federal money to tenant protections like just-cause eviction rules, notice of major rent hikes, and organizing rights, with extra focus on high-cost metro areas such as parts of Washington state.
