    • Effect of the change:: Raise The law the bill will change:: School Funding Sponsor: Kyle Fitzgerald (R-TX)

    This bill increases school funding from Low to Moderate. Specifically, this bill:

    • Increases funding for Career and Technology Education (CTE), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs in K-12 public schools.
      • Purchasing and upgrading equipment for CTE and STEM classrooms, laboratories, and workshops.
      • Providing professional development and certification opportunities for teachers in CTE and STEM fields.
      • Offering incentives for the hiring and retention of teachers specializing in CTE and STEM subjects, including salary supplements.
      • Supporting the development of industry partnerships to align educational programs with workforce needs.
    • Increases funding for school security measures in K-12 public schools.
      • Hiring and training School Resource Officers (SROs) to ensure the safety of students and staff.
      • Installing and upgrading surveillance systems, including cameras, entry-control systems, and communication systems.
      • Implementing physical security measures, such as reinforced doors, window coverings, and fencing.
    • Increases financial incentives for hiring and retaining teachers in K-12 public schools, especially in rural and underserved areas.
      • Offering signing bonuses and relocation assistance for new teachers in rural and underserved areas.
      • Providing salary supplements to retain teachers.
      • Funding professional development and mentorship programs to support teacher retention.
    • Following the enactment of this Act, no school receiving federal funding shall include instruction based on Critical Race Theory (CRT) in its curriculum. For the purposes of this Act, "Critical Race Theory" is defined as any curriculum or instructional program that teaches or promotes:
      • That one race is inherently superior or inferior to another race.
      • That individuals, by virtue of their race, are inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously.
      • That individuals bear collective responsibility for actions committed by members of the same race in the past.
