Thank you. Thank you all for being here today. It’s a humbling thing, to stand before friends, family, and so many folks from all walks of life who share a common hope: that we can make Virginia, and America, stronger, safer, and more united.
As some of you know, my story began right here in Virginia Beach. I grew up in a household that believed in service—my father, a Navy veteran, taught me the values of discipline and duty, and my mother, a public school teacher, showed me the power of education and community. That foundation shaped my life. It’s why, when the time came, I answered the call to serve my country as a Marine.
For over 20 years, I served this great nation, from the deserts of the Middle East to the halls of the Pentagon. I served alongside the finest men and women this country has to offer—Americans who put everything on the line for the safety and freedom of others. And when I came home, I knew my mission wasn’t over.
I saw the struggles veterans faced—those who had given so much but came home to too little. I saw communities, like ours here in Virginia, working hard but being left behind. And I saw the Chesapeake Bay, a natural treasure that represents both our environment and our economy, in dire need of protection.
So I went to Richmond, to the Virginia House of Delegates, and for the last decade, I’ve fought for veterans’ healthcare, for environmental protections, for affordable healthcare, and for our national security. We’ve made progress, but I’ll be the first to tell you—it’s not enough. Not when our politics are more divided than ever. Not when our veterans still struggle to get the care they deserve. Not when our environment is still under threat, and our democracy is still at risk.
That’s why today, I’m announcing my candidacy for the United States Senate!
[Applause and cheers]
I am running for the U.S. Senate because I believe in service. I believe in the power of bringing people together to solve our biggest challenges. And I believe that leadership—real leadership—means doing what’s right for ALL Virginians, not just those who agree with you.
We live in a time of great division. But I refuse to accept that our politics must be driven by fear, hatred, or lies. I believe we can be better than that. We must be.
As your Senator, I’ll focus on three core priorities:
First, we will secure our nation and support our veterans. My time in the Marine Corps taught me one thing—security isn’t just about military might, it’s about taking care of the men and women who wear the uniform when they come home. We will make sure that every veteran in Virginia has access to the healthcare, mental health services, and job opportunities they deserve.
Second, we must protect our environment. Virginia’s coastline is a lifeline for our economy and our way of life, but it’s under threat. We can—and we must—take bold action to protect the Chesapeake Bay, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, and invest in clean, renewable energy. We can create jobs, protect our environment, and secure a better future for our children at the same time.
And finally, we need to bring people together. Washington is broken, folks, and the only way we’re going to fix it is by sending people who understand the value of teamwork and bipartisanship. I’ve worked with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike, and I’ve learned that we’re stronger when we focus on what unites us, not what divides us.
I believe in the strength of this Commonwealth and this country. I believe that, together, we can tackle the tough issues—whether it’s securing our economy, improving our healthcare system, or keeping our nation safe. But we can’t do it alone. We can’t do it with empty promises or petty politics. We can only do it by standing up for one another and by demanding leadership that puts people first.
[Applause]
Some will say I’m too focused on finding common ground. That I’m too willing to work with people I disagree with. Well, let me tell you something. Compromise is not weakness—compromise is how democracy works. It’s how we honor the diversity of opinions and experiences that make America great.
But make no mistake: I’m not afraid to fight. I’ve fought for this country, I’ve fought for Virginia, and I’ll fight for every one of you in Washington.
So, to everyone out there—whether you’re a veteran, a teacher, a small business owner, a parent, or a student—I ask you to stand with me in this mission. Let’s work together to create a future where every Virginian has the opportunity to thrive. A future where we can be proud of what we pass on to our children and grandchildren. A future where service to others is not just an option but a responsibility.
[Applause]
This campaign isn’t just about winning an election. It’s about restoring the values of honor, integrity, and service to our politics. And with your help, we will win. Together, we will bring a new kind of leadership to Washington—a leadership that puts Virginia, and America, first.
Thank you, Virginia! Let’s get to work!
[Rousing applause and cheers]
