The economy is in an unacceptable state right now. Young people are getting out of school, entering the workforce, and finding it impossible to save up, buy a house or even find an affordable apartment, and start a family. That’s a key part of the American Dream that folks are having to forego or compromise on or delay, and while some of it is bad luck, most of this is caused by bad policy exacerbated by an unwillingness from Washington liberals to address the root issues.

The liberal solution is to just throw more taxpayer money at the issue. If that was gonna fix the problem, we wouldn’t still be talking about it now. We aren’t going to make housing more affordable by increasing demand and inflating costs on an already limited supply. We need to expand the supply of housing by reducing regulations and making construction a better and easier investment for the market.
- We also have a tremendous debt problem in Washington. We are at the highest level of peacetime debt in our country ever. This isn’t sustainable. The best time to act was many years ago; the second best time is today. When I go to Washington, I will focus on holding spending accountable, fighting waste and getting us on a path to sustainable budgets that won’t bankrupt our country and leave our children with the bill.
