  • Jason Patel for Virginia

“Thank you! Thank you so much for being here today!”

“It’s great to see all of you — friends, neighbors, colleagues, and passionate Virginians from every corner of this great state. I am deeply humbled by the energy, the ideas, and the hope I feel standing here among you. Today, I stand before you not just as an entrepreneur or as someone who believes in the power of technology, but as someone who believes in the future of Virginia. And I am here to announce my candidacy for Governor of this great Commonwealth!”

    (Crowd cheers)

“The challenges we face today demand leadership that is both visionary and practical. Leadership that embraces change, that brings people together from all walks of life, and that understands that our future isn’t something we fear — it’s something we can create. We can’t afford to cling to the past or retreat into old divisions. We need bold solutions that will move Virginia forward. Solutions that build a future for everyone, no matter where you live, what you believe, or what your background is.”

“Now, I know my opponent, Rosa Brennan, has laid out her vision for the future. And while we may share a commitment to the values that make our country great — protecting life, securing our rights, and building a strong energy future — we differ greatly on what that future looks like. And that’s where I believe Virginia has a choice.”

“Let’s start with healthcare. We all know how important it is to protect and support women and families in times of crisis. And while I respect Rosa's passion for life-affirming choices, I believe every woman in Virginia deserves the right to make her own healthcare decisions. It is her body, her future, her choice. And we should be standing behind her with healthcare resources, not restricting her freedom. That’s why, as Governor, I will expand access to affordable healthcare services and protect reproductive rights for all Virginians, because compassion means empowering people, not controlling them.”

    (Applause)

“Now, on the issue of gun rights — look, I grew up around responsible gun owners. My father taught me how to respect firearms, how to handle them safely. But let's be real about what's happening in our communities. Gun violence is on the rise, and it’s not because of law-abiding citizens. It’s because we have failed to implement common-sense reforms that protect our families from tragedies. I believe in the Second Amendment, but I also believe in gun safety. We can ensure that responsible gun owners can defend themselves and implement background checks, red flag laws, and mental health initiatives that reduce the violence we see on our streets.”

    (Cheers)

“And let me be clear — Virginia is ready for the future of energy. We have the talent, the resources, and the innovation to lead the nation. But while my opponent wants to focus only on nuclear energy, I believe we need an all-encompassing approach. Nuclear is part of the answer, yes, but so are solar, wind, and green technologies that are already creating high-paying jobs and transforming our economy. I will make Virginia the innovation capital of the East Coast — where every community, rural and urban, benefits from a future built on clean energy and modern infrastructure!”

    (Roaring applause)

“But what I will not do is roll back progress on issues that affect our everyday lives. Rosa Brennan says no to legalizing marijuana. But let me ask you this — does criminalizing a plant that’s already being used by millions make sense? Does it help our youth? Does it help our justice system? No! It’s time to stop pretending that prohibition works. I will legalize, regulate, and tax marijuana, just like we do with alcohol. And I’ll use the revenue to invest in education, in mental health services, in addiction recovery programs. Because true progress doesn’t come from fear; it comes from facing reality and crafting solutions that work for everyone.”

(Loud cheers and chants of “Jason! Jason!”)

“Friends, this campaign isn’t about left versus right. It’s about forward versus backward. It’s about whether we embrace the future or cling to the past. I’m running for Governor because I believe in a future where Virginia is the leader in technology, in education, in healthcare, in energy — a future where all Virginians can thrive.”

“This is our time. Our moment to build a Virginia that’s ready to tackle the big challenges — not with fear, not with anger, but with innovation, with compassion, and with courage.”

“I’m ready to lead. I’m ready to fight for our future. Are you with me?”

(The crowd erupts in applause and cheers.)

“Thank you! Together, we will build a Virginia that works for everyone. Let's get to work!”
