Good evening, Dale City!
It’s great to be with you all tonight as we talk about the future of our great Commonwealth. We’re at a crucial moment in this state’s history, and the choices we make in the coming months will shape the lives of every family, every business owner, and every child in our great Commonwealth. I’m here tonight because I believe we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Virginia for everyone. And I’m ready to lead the charge with a steady hand.
First, let’s talk about the issue that affects us all every time we walk into the grocery store — the grocery sales tax. Our families across Virginia are struggling with rising prices, and this unnecessary tax is making it even harder for you to afford even the basic necessities. Why should a mother trying to feed her kids be taxed extra on the food she needs to put on the table? It’s time we eliminate the state grocery sales tax once and for all. No Virginian should have to pay extra just to buy the essentials. By cutting this tax, we will be putting money back into your pocket and easing the burden that’s weighing down too many households.
But that’s not all. For far too long, runaway property taxes have been driving families and seniors out of their homes. Every year, we see property tax bills rising faster than paychecks, forcing many to abandon a core principle of the American dream just to stay afloat. It’s unacceptable. I will implement real restrictions on runaway property taxes, because once you officially own your home it should be a blessing, not a financial burden. We will ensure that Virginians can keep their homes without being taxed out of them, and that our elders on fixed incomes are protected from these rising costs. It’s about fairness, it’s about security, and it’s about making sure families can build a future in their communities!
And when we talk about the future, we have to talk about our children. Their safety is my top priority. Every parent should feel confident that when they send their kids off to school, they are entering a safe environment. That’s why I will make sure every Virginia school has a police officer on school grounds. It’s not just about responding to threats — it’s about preventing them. By placing officers in our schools, we will not only ensure the safety of our students, but we will also foster good relationships between law enforcement and our youth. Officers in schools will be there to protect, to mentor, and to build trust with the next generation. Our kids deserve nothing less than to feel safe every day, and we will make that happen.
We have the opportunity to bring real, positive change to our Commonwealth. We can lay the foundation for a safer, stronger, and more affordable future. I’m ready to fight for these changes, but I can’t do it alone. Together, we can make Virginia the best place to live, work, and raise a family in the country. Let’s make this happen — for our families, for our children, for our future. Thank you, and God bless all of you as well as our great Commonwealth!
