Statement on the Michigan Skilled Workforce and Technology Jobs Act
Senator Ethosyde Hydra issued the following statement regarding the Michigan Skilled Workforce and Technology Jobs Act currently under debate:
“The Michigan Skilled Workforce and Technology Jobs Act focuses on connecting workforce training with demonstrated employer demand and measurable employment outcomes.
The legislation prioritizes high-demand fields including skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, technology, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and healthcare, while emphasizing statewide access to training opportunities.
The proposal also directs policymakers to examine successful existing workforce resources before creating additional programs or administrative structures. Outcomes contemplated by the legislation include program completion, recognized credentials, job placement, wages, retention, and advancement.
The legislation remains under debate, and I welcome continued examination of its provisions, implementation requirements, costs, and expected outcomes.”
